Upper Key Stage 2 (UKS2) Phase Leader – Mrs Husband and Mrs Porter
This term UKS2 Phase Leadership sits with our Senior Leaders, Mrs Porter and Mrs Husband.
Mrs Porter has worked at Frederick Bird for 14 years, and is incredibly passionate about our school. Both Mrs Porter and I have a combined experience of over 30 years in Year 5 and 6, and many years in Senior Leadership at various schools. Our UKS2 team is fabulous, with all staff at all levels exceptionally committed to providing the best education possible for our oldest pupils.
We have a busy year ahead in UKS2 and will be inviting you in over the year to take part in lots of events and to play an active part in your children’s learning. This is an exciting time for all of us at school as we introduce many new aspects to our teaching and learning such as a new thematic curriculum.
We look forward to us working together this year and getting to meet those of you who I don’t already know. As parents ourselves, we know the importance of good relationships between parents and school. If you have any questions or concerns, please come make an appointment to see your child’s class teacher in the first instance, or request a meeting with Mr Henson (Year 6 Standards Lead) or Miss Savage (Year 5 Standards Lead). If you would prefer to speak to a senior member of staff the please do not hesitate to get in touch with Mrs Porter or I via the school office, who will happily arrange an appointment for you.

Key Stage 1 (KS1) Phase Leader – Mrs Patel
This year I am leading KS1 (Year 1 and Year 2) as the Phase Leader. KS1 is such an important time for our young children and I feel privileged to be working in this phase.
I have worked at Frederick Bird for 19 years in many roles across the school, from Nursery to Year 6. I lead Pupil Premium across the school and I am very passionate about all children having access to the best education.
I look forward to working together with you as parents. As a mum myself of two small children, one in nursery and one in Year 3, I understand how important the relationship is between parents and school. If you have any questions, please speak to me or one of the team, or drop me a message on Class Dojo or via the school office.
Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Phase Leader – Mrs Alonzi
I am the EYFS Phase Leader for Reception and Nursery.
It has been a pleasure to work at Frederick Bird for many years, across all year groups. If you have older children, then you may know me already. I have previously led subjects across the whole school and led other phases.
Whether your child is joining us in Nursery or this is the first time your child is starting school in Reception, I look forward to meeting as many of you as possible over the coming year. We have lots of magical learning opportunities planned for the year ahead and we are excited to welcome parents and carers to participate in learning alongside their child.
If you have any questions, please come and find me on the gate or speak with your child’s class teacher. You can also send me a message on Class Dojo. I look forward to working in partnership with you so that your child has the best start to their school life here at Frederick Bird.
