Year 3 and 4 children have led assembly themselves instead of Mrs Smith this week focusing on Black History Month. Each class took a different person in history to study and then talk about – some of who are still alive today.
We looked at Joseph Coelho (poet), John Steptoe (author), Rosa Parks (fought for equality), Nelson Mandela (fought for equality), Simone Biles (gymnast), Jesse Owens (athlete), Muhammad Ali (boxer) and Benjamin Zephaniah (local poet).
A few children from each class presented some information about their person to the rest of assembly – some even came up on their own. Some showed video clips, some had posters and others some of their own written research. They were absolutely fantastic and very confident, well done to all.
