World Book Week: Musical

What’s the perfect way to start World Book Week? A musical based on books has to come pretty close – certainly for Mr Spencer! The two performers, both professionals from the West End in London, were fantastic, and any show that gets both Year 1 and Year 6 laughing, singing and dancing along has to be a hit.

The songs of the sea and forest have gone missing! For Jess and George, two strangers from neighbouring villages, this changes everything. Jess has spent her whole life in the village of Seaview while George has grown up in Treeland, in the forest. They’ve never met, but as they each follow a mysterious map their paths are about to cross in more ways than one.

Inspiring children to read is key to Jess and George’s adventure. During the show they learn from and interact with characters from three popular books which you can explore and read with the children:

  • Under the Same Sky by Britta Teckentrup
  • Here We Are by Oliver Jeffers
  • This Morning I Met a Whale by Michael Morpurgo
