As part of our History work on the Second World War, Year 5 will be taking part in 2 separate visits over the coming few weeks:
Tuesday 19th September – Coventry Transport Museum and Herbert Art Gallery (TBC)
Thursday 28th September – Coventry Cathedral
During the visits the children will be learning a number of different things:
- How Coventry was affected by the Second World War
- The bombing of Coventry Cathedral
- How the building of a new cathedral encouraged people to come together in difficult times
- Evacuation of children during the war
The cost of the trip will be £7.00 which includes entry to all the visits. We would really appreciate it if you could pay by Wednesday 13th September. The attached consent form needs to be returned to class teachers by Monday 11th September. Please provide your child with comfortable walking shoes and a waterproof coat.
For the visit to the Coventry Cathedral your child will need to bring a packed lunch for the day with a drink. If your child is entitled to free school meals a packed lunch will be ordered for them. For the Coventry Transport Museum visit we will return in time for lunch at school.
Any problems please speak to your class teacher or Clare Smith.
